In the studio
Two painters, one studio. One finds the room in empty space; the other fills every inch with intention.
Shalini Tomar works in watercolour and ink. A single figure, a lamp, a bird crossing an open field of blue — the subject is given room rather than explanation, and the paper is allowed to remain paper.
Leela Rani works in oil and mixed medium. Dense ornament, saturated colour, every inch of the canvas carrying something: dancers mid-turn, deities built in faceted planes of pigment.
We are not smoothing that contrast over. It is the point. Every painting here is an original — nothing editioned, generated, or reproduced from another hand.
