Leela Rani · Original, one of one
$2,250 USD
An Odissi dancer seen from behind, facing a painted Nataraja mural. Original, cotton canvas, by Leela Rani.
Rather than depicting a dancer mid-performance, this piece shows her from behind, seated, facing a large Nataraja mural rendered on the wall in front of her — the cosmic dancer and the human dancer held in the same frame, one performing for the other. The hair ornament and sari draping are worked in real detail, but the real subject is the relationship implied by the composition rather than the costume itself. Original oil on cotton canvas by Leela Rani.
